every no leads to…

I have been told that every ‘no’ gets you closer to a ‘yes’. I have been told this about job applications. I don’t think, however, the same applies to relationships.
Every ‘no’ ages us
we learn
we gain some wisdom
lose some youthfulness
and perhaps even
faith.
Every ‘no’
brings us closer
to getting older
to being alone.
Every ‘no’ leads to
nowhere.
